DIY Homesteader Festival Workshop:
Curious about alpacas? Join Sandra Brown of Enchanted Grove Alpacas to learn everything you need to know about alpaca care, maintenance, feed, and the costs involved in raising these fleecy friends. Learn whether you should keep alpacas for show, as a pet and/or for fibre – and the wonders of what you can make with the silky fibres of alpaca fleece!
Hands-on: Participants may interact with one or more of Sandra’s alpacas. This is a small-group, outdoor workshop conducive to a lot of participant involvement.
Accessibility: This workshop takes place in an outdoor shelter on grass or pine-needle forest floor (not as pokey as it sounds). We can have a desk and chair available upon request at the workshop space in the event it is not accessible for a participant to sit on the ground or on a hay bale.

Sandra is a long time knitter and fiber artist of 35 years. Her alpaca adventure began 8 years ago when she and her family purchased a small acreage and 2 livestock guardian dogs. While it would seem that the dogs were the focus, they needed a job and the search for livestock began, with very little farming experience. Realizing that livestock options were limited on a small acreage, Sandra stumbled across an ad for alpacas and the dream of Enchanted Grove alpacas was born.
