Workshop Teacher Resources

Welcome!

Hello to the teaching crew of 2019! This is your page for all things fest-related, including promo graphics and writing, the lesson-plan guide, important reminders and more. We’ll be updating it regularly, so if you like to avoid digging through email to find information, you can make this the cool place to be.

We’re so excited to work with you to help make your workshops the best they can be and to ensure you and your workshop attendees have an amazing fest experience.

NOTICE: If you haven’t uploaded your photo and/or bio, please do so asap. We are starting individual workshop/teacher promotion this week! Please upload the best quality photo you have, with the clearest background possible. Photo specs are listed on the teacher application.

SPEAKER BENEFITS

We feel strongly that quality education is important. People come out to the fest to connect with others, connect with the land, and to equip themselves with skills they need to accomplish their homesteading goals. So, we do our best to provide a fantastic gratitude package for each teacher. At this point, the fest is not a profitable venture, so we are somewhat limited in our capacity. In 2017 we paid out over $5000 in teacher thank-you packages! We hope this will grow with each fest and that you’ll hang in there with us as we grow! For 2019, we are offering:

// Complimentary one-day entry ticket for yourself and your partner for each day you teach
// Lunch for yourself on each day you teach
// FREE one-day space in the festival market where you can sell your goods
// Professional headshot to use to promote your business
// Promotion of your business on our accounts
// Mileage reimbursement of up to $50 upon request
// Honorarium (please note if more than one person is teaching the workshop, the honorarium is split, andyou both get the items above).

DIY Homesteader Fest returns August 10 & 11, 2019

The DIY Homesteader Festival https://homesteaderfest.ca/ is back this year and early bird tickets are on sale now until April 23! The fest is a two-day, one-of-a-kind grassroots event in Manitoba, Canada, featuring over 30 workshops on topics ranging from mushroom cultivation to fermentation, permaculture gardening to beekeeping, and more! There’s live music, a DIY Kids’ Area with loads of nature activities, food vendors and a General Store Artisan Market.

The fest takes place at Cityfolk Farm, a prairie homestead – 80 acres of forest, marsh, and meadow, a stone’s throw from Lake Winnipeg, near Thalberg, Manitoba, on Treaty 1 territory. It’s a place where you can come to plant your feet on the ground, open your heart to the wide open prairie sky, and reconnect with skills of the past. Folks come out to join in from around Canada to participate.
